About

Hi, I'm Frances O'Rourke and this is my website covering Irish traditional music in the North West of England. I play the piano accordion and more recently the fiddle and I'm from Corby, Northamptonshire. I moved to Manchester in 1997.

Hazel Fairbairn, Frances O'Rourke and Rick Batey at Northampton Irish Centre circa 1994.

We were based in Cambridge and called the Alien Ceilidh Company. Rick now lives in London and works as a journalist on Guitar/Guitarist magazine and Hazel still does ceilis in the Cambridge area with the the latest evolution of Aliens

Hazel also plays with the band Horace X of which I was a founder member until they went weird.

I can't remember how to play the whistle any more, even though I spent a lot of my childhood doing so. Click to enlarge.
